We knew Tesla did not yet have a perfect autopilot system, but a new video shared shows that the system is not yet ready for scooter traffic at all.
Tesla, the world’s most popular electric car brand, is famous not only for its electric motor that offers superior performance, but also for its autopilot, which can enable the driver to take their hands off the steering wheel and the accelerator pedal. However, it seems that Tesla’s autopilot is not yet ready to offer a safe route around the world.
In the videos shared so far, it was seen that the Tesla autopilot system was very successful in cities in the USA and Europe. However, it is difficult to see the same success when it comes to South Asia. A video from the streets of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s largest city, shows the sad outcome of Tesla against scooters.

As you can see in the video, Ho Chi Minh City hosts an extremely busy scooter traffic. Although Tesla’s surround view system is able to detect almost all scooters, when we look at the digital display of the vehicle, we see that the scooters pass through each other and move much faster than they are. At the end of the video, Tesla gives up and states that the autopilot has been disabled.
Although the video in question ends with the “failure” of the Tesla autopilot system, it shows us two very important things. The first is that even if our vehicle has an autopilot system, we should not trust it 100 percent. Second, and more importantly, why it is difficult to develop a perfectly working autopilot. Because, as you can see, a system that works successfully in one country can become useless in another country.
