Chinese electric two-wheeled vehicle manufacturer NIU has launched a new electric kick scooter. The scooter has the art of manufacturing affordable electric mopeds, the brand’s first electric strike scooter. The scooter is expected to go on sale in China, Europe and North America this summer.
The NIU Electric kick scooter was introduced in two variants – a Pro model and a Sport model. Both models have different characteristics in different markets and are separated from each other by design and some technical characteristics.
The NIU Electric Kick Scooter Pro has the highest speed of 19.8mph in the US, while the Electric Kick Scooter Sport will come with a top speed of 17.4 mph. The highest speed for the Pro variant in Europe was reduced to 15.5 mph (25 km/h) due to local regulations.
Overall, the NIU Electric Kick Scooter Pro has a range of 31 miles (50 km) on a single full charge, which lasts up to 7.5 hours. On the other hand, the Sport model has a range of 25 miles (40 km) on a single charge. The NIU Electric Kick Scooter Sport will be fully charged from scratch in about 5.5 hours.
Electric Kick Scooter Pro includes a 350W engine powered by a 486Wh lithium-ion battery pack. On the other hand, the NIU Electric Kick Scooter Sport has a 300W engine and a 365Wh battery pack. The two models come with some water resistance, which allows its use in rain and has regenerative braking. They can also be folded and support app connectivity using Bluetooth.
Niu Electric Kick Scooter Pro adopts an initial price tag of $599. The company has not yet announced the prices of the different models. The models are expected to go on pre-sale in June 2021, but will go on sale in the US and Europe in July this year. The scooter will enter other markets in August 2021 and will be available online or in NIU’s dealers and stores in Europe and North America.
