Apple’s talks with Hyundai and Kia about building an electric “Apple Car” have recently been paused, according to a new report.
Apple Car discussions cannot be resolved
Apple was disturbed by Hyundai’s announcement that it was in talks to participate in the electric car project, Bloomberg reported. Because, in early January, Hyundai and its subsidiary Kia backed away from the statement.
It is unclear how long the discussions will continue. At Hyundai, however, there are internal disputes that could derail the plans. According to leaked information, hyundai or Kia are thought to be having a “disagreement” over whether to produce the Apple autonomous vehicle.
In addition, in another report in January, Hyundai executives had said they were still considering whether working with Apple as a customer was worth the risks.
At the same time, a source told Bloomberg that Apple had discussed similar plans with other automakers but did not give any names. Apple is also said to be in talks with multiple Japanese carmakers.
If production is made for the vehicle, it is claimed that the car will be built on Hyundai’s E-GMP electric vehicle platform and produced in addition to Hyundai’s component design and production.
Finally, in early February, Apple’s $3.6 billion investment deal with Kia to bring its autonomous car to life is approaching. It seems that it will become clear in the future what kind of outcome we will face about Apple’s car, which is based on many rumors.
